PROFESSIONAL BIO OF JUDITH E. VIDA, MD Judith E. Vida, M.D. is a graduate of Pomona College and Stanford University School of Medicine. She received her training in Psychoanalysis at the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Institute. She is a Founder, Training and Supervising Analyst, and Faculty Member at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, and a former Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at USC. She is also a past president of the Southern California Psychiatric Society, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the International Psychoanalytic Association, and the Sándor Ferenczi Society of Budapest. In the International Federation of Psychoanalytic Education, she was President for 2005 and 2006, and previously a member of the Board of Directors as well as co-chair of the Psychoanalytic History Committee. Vida has written and lectured extensively about art and artists. She presented a paper about Yayoi Kusama in conjunction with the 1998 “Love Forever” exhibition at LACMA and the Walker Center for the Arts. On more than one occasion, she has been overheard to say, “Everything about psychoanalysis that matters I learned from contemporary art.” |
